Volunteer Opportunities

The Stewart Center is always eager to engage committed volunteers in a variety of service opportunities.  The Center relies on the faithful gifts of our volunteers’ time and energy to fuel our ministry efforts.  We encourage potential volunteers to envision how their talents might enrich the Stewart Center’s community and are open to exploring  new pathways of ministry that originate from those that serve.

Our after school program is our largest ministry offering and requires a significant commitment from our staff and volunteers.  Those interested in serving during the after school program can assist with tutoring and homework help, lead an elective such as art, cooking or recreation and/or help facilitate a weekly faith enrichment activity.  Because or after school program seeks to meet the needs of our partnering families and many of the program’s components originate form volunteers’ talents our program evolves from one semester to the next.

During the summer months the Center administers a ten week camp for elementary age children.  Volunteers are needed to help staff the camp, prepare snacks and lunches, chaperone field trips and lead special activities.  The Center benefits from individuals serving on a regular basis as well as church, college and community groups that serve for one week sessions.  Groups wishing to participate during the summer should contact the Center well in advance of their desired date of service.

If serving with children is not something you are comfortable with or if you are unable to serve during these program sessions we are always in need of people with administrative, marketing, technical and fundraising ability.  We are currently looking for someone to help us update and manage our computer system.

If you are interested in serving at the Stewart Center please complete the volunteer application below.  You can send completed forms to megan@stewartcenter.org or bring them when you make your initial site visit.  Please know that we are committed to providing a safe environment for everyone involved with the Stewart Center and that we do criminal background checks on all staff and volunteers.  If you would like to inquire further about volunteer opportunities please contact the office.
